High school reunion why go
I plan on going to the next one in a few years. To see your best friends of course and to see how everyone has changed and what they are up too. My 20 year high school reunion is only a few years away and I was debating on whether to go or not. This post really shines a light on all that reconnecting with old friends has to offer. I attended my 10th reunion and skipped my 20th.
It was interesting to see how much everyone had changed. I just went to my 40th in May and I had a ball! I will cherish those times forever!
I graduated 30 years ago. These are awesome reasons! My boyfriend at the time went to a different school so I spent most of my time there with those people! All great reasons to go and if the trip was close by all the more reason to catch up.
Now that you can see everyone it would be even better to catch up on facebook and other social media. I do get invites to both though. I need to go to our next high school reunion.
Looks like you had a wonderful time! I keep in touch with the people I want too from school and know everything about everyone with FB these days haha. But I do wish I had a nicer experience at school and would want to go! I did not go to my 20 year, however I am looking to go to my 25th. I am friends with a lot of my classmates on Facebook. It would be awesome to go to your highschool reunion. It would be fun to go. If there was ever one nearby, I might be tempted.
I have never been to any of my reunions. I switched schools in high school so I do not feel too connected to anyone from either school. These are great reasons. My high school friends and I are having a mini reunion next week and I am so excited. I am actually really sad that I am missing my 10 year reunion this year. I do plan on making it to the next one though. I never was much into reuniting with people. I love that we have social media now to keep in touch with old friends from school.
I am going to my 50th in September. I have been to a couple. But, I look forward to seeing them and hope that I can conquer my fears and join in now. I love that you also mentioned healing. I see a lot of my high school friends online, but not in real life. I am honestly not a big reunion person. Maybe if I mainly to I definitely get why people go or want to go.
Maybe someday I will change my mind. I missed my year high school reunion so I was set on going to my 20th. Which is crazy, that I have been out of school that long. We had a free event and then the next night they had a huge dinner. It was out of my budget so I just went to the free event. Healing I think is a big one when it comes to high school reunions. I had a different reaction to my school reunion.
While I am glad I went, I will not be going to any others. We did move miles away though so totally differently life culturally now. I missed mine. But my husband is going to his next week! I will be tagging along. I just spoke to a friend a few weeks ago about how amazing it would be to have a 10th year high school reunion. Maybe I can sell the idea to a few friends about hosting one.
You should definitely go! I missed my 10 year reunion a few years ago due to living across the country and am okay with that. Always fun to have an excuse for a night out away from the kiddos. I think the high school reunions are fun. At mine however, we are all definitely starting to age now. We look like grandmas and grandpas and most of us are. Oh yeah. I love going to our high school reunions. It always bring back old loving and fun memories. I, on the other hand, grew up in a really small town, and really have no desire to attend my 20 year reunion coming up shortly.
Social media is so prevalent in this generation, that the idea of a high school reunion feels redundant. The main reason high school reunions exist is to see what everyone from your graduating class is up to 10 years later.
But with social media giving us access to these people at the touch of a button, why dress up and go to an event filled with awkward small talk, when you can spend a few hours scrolling through Facebook and Instagram to find out what you want to know? High school reunions are placed on an unnecessarily high pedestal and I want to knock them down. For me, high school was fine. There were a few ups and downs, but everybody has those.
No matter how your high school experience panned out, there are still so many reasons why high school reunions are simply illogical. If you had a tough time with bullies in school, but have finally found your tribe and feel comfortable in your own skin, why go back to that toxic environment and try to impress the people who hurt you?
To Network — Networking is so important in some fields that there are entire social websites built solely around the premise of helping people to network on a professional level. Attending your high school reunion can be a great experience, but it may also afford you some networking opportunities that you would otherwise miss out on.
To Reminisce — Some people suffer through high school, but there are also those that reveled in the experience. Looking back at your high school career and sharing a few laughs with the people that were by your side for all of those great times can be very rewarding.
Of course unless you are one of the luckiest people in the world and still married to your high school sweetheart which is even more of a cause to celebrate with mutual friends!
Your high school reunion will give you the chance to dance the night away.
